Care

CRP.001 pieces are built to last and to change. The care instructions below are not about preservation in the museum sense — they are about maintaining the integrity of each material so it can evolve correctly.

A well-cared-for piece looks different after five years of wear. Not worse. Deeper.

Waxed Fabrics

Do not machine wash. Do not dry clean. Do not iron directly.

Wax-treated fabrics should be wiped clean with a damp cloth for surface dirt. For deeper cleaning, use cold water and a soft brush — never soap, which strips the wax coating.

The wax finish will naturally wear at high-friction points over time: elbows, cuffs, knees. This is not deterioration. It is use. The fabric beneath is the same fabric — the patina is the record of the garment being worn.

To re-wax: apply a thin layer of garment wax (Fjällräven Greenland Wax or equivalent) with a cloth, then use a hairdryer on low heat to work it into the fabric. This restores water resistance and deepens the finish.

Raw and Treated Denim

Do not wash for the first six months if possible. Raw denim fades according to your body and your movement. Early washing interrupts this process.

When washing becomes necessary: cold water, inside out, no spin cycle. Air dry flat or hanging — never in a dryer.

The indigo will fade. The creases will set. The denim will become a record of how you move. This is the point.

For hand-waxed denim pieces, follow the waxed fabrics instructions above. Do not machine wash under any circumstances.

Heavy Jersey and Knit

Hand wash in cold water or machine wash on a delicate cycle at 30°C maximum. Use a gentle detergent without bleach or optical brighteners.

Lay flat to dry. Heavy knits lose their shape if hung wet. Do not tumble dry.

Steam if needed — do not iron directly on the fabric surface.

Hardware and Metal Details

Metal components — buckles, rings, rivets — will oxidize over time. This is expected and appropriate. Do not attempt to polish or restore them to their original finish.

If hardware becomes stiff or seized: a small amount of beeswax applied to moving parts will free them without leaving residue.

Storage

Store pieces flat or hung, in a cool dry place away from direct light. Waxed pieces should not be stored folded for long periods — the wax can crack at fold lines.

If a piece will be stored for an extended period, stuff sleeves and body with tissue to maintain shape.

Repairs

Pieces are made to be repaired, not replaced. If a seam opens, a lining tears, or hardware fails — contact us. We will advise on repair, and where possible, handle it directly.

A piece with a repair history is not a damaged piece. It is a piece that has been used.
